Android

1. Open the published app address in Chrome.
2. Use the app’s Install button if it appears, or Chrome’s menu → Install app / Add to Home screen.
3. Follow the prompt, then launch from the new icon.

Menu names vary. If you opened a link inside another app, open it in Chrome first.

iPhone and iPad

1. Open the published app in Safari.
2. Tap Share, then Add to Home Screen. If shown, leave Open as Web App enabled.
3. Tap Add and open the app from its new icon.

Computer

1. Open the app in Chrome or Edge.
2. Use the install icon in the address bar, or the browser menu’s install option when available.
3. If no installation option appears, you can still use the app in a browser tab.

CareFold’s desktop PDF workstation is a separate application. This guide covers Photo, Licence, Handover, Talk and Rin Focus.

Before going offline

Keep the app open online until its status says “Works offline”. Test reopening it without a connection before relying on it. First downloads can be sizeable, especially Photo’s recognition models. Browser storage can be cleared or evicted, so offline access is not permanent or guaranteed.

Where your work lives

Licence’s optional backup passcode protects the exported backup, not all browser-stored records. Keep the passcode: it cannot be recovered. Calendar reminders require importing the .ics file; the app does not send background reminders.

CareFold Handover: temporary tab storage

Handover uses session storage with timed clearing. It is not a persistent record or backup. Browser tab restoration may retain an unexpired session. Printed sheets and clipboard copies are not cleared by the app.

CareFold Talk: preferences and voices

Favourites and gender preferences stay in this browser. Bundled fonts support offline Arabic text. Speech availability and quality depend on the device’s Arabic voices; audio is not guaranteed offline.

Rin Focus: timers and history

Preferences and completed focus sessions stay in this browser. The current timer stays in this tab and resumes after refresh. Backgrounding or locking the device may delay the completion message; no background alarm is guaranteed. Start a new focus or break session manually.

Rin: professional learning prototype

Reviewed reflections stay in this browser with no account or cloud sync. Download a backup regularly; backups contain plain text. AI drafting and voice transcription need the Rin backend and internet access. The app asks before sending your selected note or recording to OpenAI. Unsaved captures are not a persistent record.

Updates and troubleshooting

Connect to the internet and reopen the app to receive available updates. Close and reopen it if changes do not appear. Back up Licence records before clearing site data or reinstalling. If installation is unavailable, use the browser version and check that you opened the app itself rather than its product page.
